WINDERMERE MODEL BOAT CLUB
Home Water: Purpose made Boat Pond and Lake Windermere
Our pond is located within the grounds of the Steamboat Museum and we normally have
access to this and the lake shore is alongside the pond for more adventurous sailors.,
BUT due to the re-
The Club was founded in early 1990, after the establishment of the Steamboat Museums’
model boating pond and, since then, Membership has had a chequered history as the
museum gone through of being ‘open’ and ‘closed’ but, as of this years AGM, stands
in the region of 19 members.
We sail a mixture of scale, steam and sail and traditionally meet at 10:30 on a Thursday.
HOWEVER we are presently sailing away from our Home Pond as the Steamboat Museum
is closed for major remodelling into the “Windermere Museum of Boats, Steam and Stories”.
At this point the date of our return to the traditional location is uncertain but is unlikely to be prior to 2016.
Members are still sailing on Thursdays at alternative venues.
PLEASE contact the Hon. Secretary for details.
